Here's Boogie in this 12-24 months size pumpkin costume. I think he puts it on every year around Halloween. This is when he sat down with his jack-o-lantern & a little pumpkin to have his "Pumpkin Club Meeting." I think he sat there looking at (& talking to) these things for an hour!

..I've been hunting for a 12" used kid bike all summer with no luck. If any of you see one while you're out & about-let me know!! Please :) We won't be picky either...as long as it's not pink! We have training wheels (I know, go figure) already, so no training wheels would be fine. I've seen a few on Craigslist, but they're so far away & none in town. Ok, fam, thanks! Family Camp 2008

Well, here are some pics from Family Camp this year. I have actually been several times...I started going with Craig and his fam back in high school. This is the first one for us to go with our boys.....well, actually the last time I went was the weekend after I found out I was preggo with Boogie, so, he's been before!! It's in northern Indiana....called Lutherhaven. It was pretty sad for a lot of us at certain points during the weekend because we really miss Steve...he was always a big part of the fun...

Hot & tired here. This was about 10 min. prior to Rooster's total overheat meltdown....he was fine after I took him inside to play :)

He is so into his new baby cousin! It's hard for me to believe that Boogie was this age when I had my new baby, Rooster. I can TOTALLY see how the youngest in the family will always get treated like a 'baby' even when they're grown.

My twin nieces are so funny. They are full of personality. Every time they come over one of them comments to me something like...'your house is funky' this time it was, 'you have alot of color in your house' and 'no offense, but your bedroom is messy.' That kind of thing makes you wonder what they're saying to each other after they leave. :)

Cell Phone vs. Bible

I received an email the other day entitled, "Cell Phone vs. Bible." As I opened it, I thought about the fact that we don't have a cell phone. We (my husband & I) did have a prepaid cell phone up until a few months ago when we decided that, although it was prepaid, we just can't afford it right now.

I could care less about whether or not I have a cell phone. I know my husband would prefer to carry one, but it's not the end of the world. After all, we have many more important things to care about. I think of all the people I know, my mother is most concerned about us not having one..for emergencies, of course. I never got into all the features that a cell phone carried. I still don't know how to check my voice mail. Surely there are hundreds of voice messages just waiting (somewhere) for me to hear. I can tell you one time in my life that a cell phone meant the world to me. I surely felt like dying if it weren't for this cell phone.

I can remember the day my second son was born and the (40) hours of labor that lead up to it. How wonderful the thought of seeing his sweet face. This thought helped me breathe and relax through every contraction & every discomfort of those three days. After all, this would be a distant memory once my baby was in my arms.

Well, long story short, I didn't get to see my baby's sweet face when he was born. Not only this, but I didn't get to see his face until every last person on the floor saw it! And I was his Mama! After some complications, my little one had to be kept in the nursery seperate from me. My husband told me he was born blue & limp, but the doctors revived him. He was breathing again, but not totally out of the clear. The doctors suspected he was born with one or more infections.

Having just had a c-section, I was in no position to accomplish exactly what I desired at that point: run into the nursery to hold my darling and never let go. In fact, I didn't hold him until the following evening. All I could do at that point was greet my visitors in the recovery room and listen to any information they could give me about my baby.

Then here comes Mom. She knew what was up, didn't she? You better believe it. I don't think I could've grabbed her phone away from her any faster. I knew there was a reason for these things! A camera on a cell phone, why? Well, now I know.

The first time I ever saw my angel was on a cell phone. It was a tiny picture. Of just his face. He looked like he was asleep, and like neither me nor my husband. None of that mattered. My baby was here and I had the cell phone photo to prove it. How's that for being born in the 21st century?

That's my cell phone story. I don't care about owning one, but someone better have one next time I go into the hospital to have a baby!!! The Bible is a different story. I never want to be without my Bible. Maybe I should carry it like a cell phone..

First VBS for Boogie

Well, we had VBS at our church a couple weeks ago. We had lots of fun. I was able to help in the "little kid" classroom with Ari. He was the youngest one there.

Here we are practicing for the program they put on for the parents and grandparents at the end of the week.

This is the classroom. We had lots of fun learning about Jesus, singing songs and doing arts & crafts.

Playtime: Simon Says. See Devin (#8) in the background watching Ari. That's Erica's little boy. He's a like a second or third cousin to Ari. We just call him a cousin. He was so good with Ari that week. Showing him what to do & helping him.

This was a blast for the kids. They were all running around and squealing by the time they finished this game.

We had to give him time to ride his favorite roller coaster.

The big finale. Ari was so good. He learned all the songs and the motions that went with it.

So, I've been hitting the rummage sales in my quest to find outdoor play stuff for cheap. I mean, why buy the stuff new when I can get the same thing used for a fraction of the price? This plastic stuff never wears out, but when I do I need to be able to send my kid out to play for a minute while I (dig for pills) meditate. Here's what I've found so far.

The Little Tikes Octopus Merry Go Round! I love this thing! They don't make them anymore. I saw a bid for this on ebay & it's up to $150! They use words like "RARE" and "RETIRED." You mean OLD, SQUEAKY and MOLDY?! Yeah! Well, you know I didn't pay near that much! (I believe you might see this picture up one day with a few catch phrases of my own!)

Here's the Little Tikes Alligator teeter tooter for 3. This is great because one kid can make it go by himself in the middle. It was marked $10 last weekend. I got it for $5! It was the stickiest thing! I had to take The Works toilet cleaner and a scrub brush to it, and now it's clean enough to pee on...Mollie! GIT!

The classic Little Tikes adjustable basketball goal...for the athlete in your family. Or in my case, the hyper-active toddlers and Dad (basketball scholarship, anyone?)! Picked this up for $8. They are around $30 new. Yes! I love getting a deal!

Currently, I am searching for something for these kids to CLIMB ON! Besides me!! I had made a sweet deal for the Little Tikes Classic Climber like this one:

But the family decided they can't part with it. Dang! These things are like $300-$400 new.

So, I'm still looking....really for anything they can climb on that might keep them (well, boogie for now) entertained for a few minutes outside. I mean, I can only stand and push a swing for so many hours before my arm goes completely numb & I pass out from the heat. Here's the swing set the boys got for their b-days:

I need to find someone who's got a climber or something like this sitting in their backyard...not being used anymore.

Of course, I'm not willing to pay much for it or I'd just go get it in the stores. We have one at our church Daycare, and both my boys love it!

I really only need about 5 hours of sleep to function. 7 hours will get you fed, diapered and entertained all day. 9 hours, and you get to pick which park we go to play all day and have a picnic with the food of your choosing. 10 straight hours of sleep, a shower...alone without anyone yelling or crying while hanging on to the other side of the locked door for 30 minutes, no food thrown on the floor, and a glass (bottle) of wine will most likely get you a little brother!

3. A white noise machine is the best thing invented since the baby wipe.

4. There's really no sense in spending any time harping on a kid about potty training. They'll do it when they're good and ready. And besides, it's a heck of alot easier to take 2 minutes to change a diaper when you get a chance than to do the whole bathroom routine with a preschooler as soon as they say, "I gotta go!" knowing the most you might get is a trickle down the leg, and you're gonna be right back there sitting on the side of the tub in an hour to do it all over again.

Quite interesting to look at the vintage clothing on this website. I can't get over how cute this stuff is, but how uncomfortable it must have been! My Grammy would have been putting this kind of clothing on her babies back in the day! Oh all the ruffles and buttons would drive ya nuts! They also have some nice reproductions.

**Ok, FIRST! I want to preface this by saying I DO NOT expect anyone to come. If you don't want to come-don't. No big. Seriously, I know that everybody has their own stuff going on, and I KNOW kids' parties are lame to most people. I invite everyone because I don't want anyone to feel left out, we just have a huge family, and I know my kids love seeing everyone. I am not my mom (who thinks everyone is as crazy about my kids as she is.)**

I'm trying to figure out when I'm going to do these parties. I totally wish that Rooster had waited just a few more days, and been born in May. Isn't that dumb? I don't know. I just feel guilty about inviting people to two parties in the same month. On the other hand, I also feel like it would be way unfair to my kids to combine their birthdays. I would have never let my parents get away with that when I was a kid, and I'm not gonna do it to my kids. :) They're not twins, ya know? Boogie is 4/6 and Roos' is 4/29. I always do parties on Saturdays. I just can't seem to do them on Sundays 'cause we're out for church half the day, and I can't justify skipping church to prepare for a party. Saturdays seem to be best for all the g'parents. Anyway, the closest Saturdays are April 7th and April 28th. I was thinking that would be ok, and then I found out about the art show. It's the 28th. Like I said, I don't expect anyone to come-I just didn't want to schedule it then if anyone especially wanted to come. So, I don't know what to do. I know I'm being a total nerd, but just wait until you have babies. I guess I'll let Craig make the call, I don't know.

I totally love it that Boogie loves to get cozy under my winter coat. Tonight he went crawling up on the bench under our coat rack, and Dada told him to get down. He didn't know Boogie was trying to pull my coat down to cuddle up under on the couch. So he immediately started crying, and told his dad he wanted Mama's coat. Dada said if he wanted a blankie he could get one, but my Boogie, my BABAY; he wanted my old coat. So, he curled up under it on the couch tonight just like he wanted, and I love that!
